Piano Sheet Music Articles…
My name is Suzan Pleva. I am an independent piano instructor. I am classically trained. I have played the piano for 17 years. I feel that I have found my “true calling”. I was born with the ability to play by ear. I am very well rounded in every aspect of playing the piano. I feel very passionate about teaching others to become as well rounded in this arena as possible. I really enjoy working with children. I am very patient with helping individuals understand each and every concept of the piano that is introduced to them.
I believe that music can bring you closer to emotion. It can take you to any place that you prefer to go. It can help your mind to focus on more than what is in front of you by inspiring your imagination to be free and open.
In short, music teaches virtue, tolerance, kindness; it teaches us about other languages and cultures. It stimulates the higher functioning of the brain, reduces stress, and improves socialization. As an instructor, I understand these things, and seek to be not merely a teacher, but a mentor who serves as constant source of inspiration and encouragement.
Something that I always dread; My student feeling “rushed” or intimidated by getting stage fright. I try my best to let them know, “It’s just me! This is what I am here for!” As I was once told, “If you do not make mistakes, how will you learn to succeed?” I think that this is one of the hardest things that I go through; watching a student’s demeanor completely change because they let the fear of “messing up” a key, or getting the measure “wrong” over come them. This is something that must happen sometimes! AS LONG AS THEY HAVE PRACTICED, this means that they have tried, and this means that eventually they will succeed!
With this in mind;
I decided to come up with a product that will help implement a way to UNDERSTAND music better. I have two products out that are separate documents. I worked very hard to make these documents to be treated like a lesson. This way, a person can have everything laid out for them, and learn music theory at their own pace.
My first product is called the Major Scales “cheat sheet”. There are too many different techniques out there to learn your major scales. It can get pretty confusing. When following the Major Scales “cheat sheet”, there is no pressure, and everything is plain and simple. Step by step is all that it takes. This is exactly how this document formed lesson is laid out.
My second product is called “Understanding technical terms”. These are terms that are completely necessary to know when working on playing your chords and scales. It will help you get a better understanding of music “jargon”. This is what is to be treated as a lesson that is also in document form.
