Piano Sheet Music Articles…
What are some fun ways to spend time together with your children when the weather outside is cold, wet & windy?
There are all sorts of inexpensive things you can do together, to spend some quality time with your kids. Reading a story to your young child is a wonderful experience for you and your child. Listening and dancing to music can also be fun. Another fun activity is to turn your lounge room into a fort. Use blankets and sheets and move the furniture around (this also works well using the dining room table). Grab a torch and read a story to your child. Play dough is also a creative way to spend time together. Roll it, mould it, and create works of art. It’s safe and easy and can be used many times over.
Play Dough Recipe:
4 cups flour, 1 cup salt, 4 cups water, 4 tablespoons oil, 1/2 cup cream of tartar, f Food colouring (use this to create the colours of your choice)
Mix all ingredients in a saucepan. Cook and stir over low/medium heat until play dough is completely formed and no longer sticky. Allow to cool slightly before storing in an airtight container or zip lock bag (store in fridge).
Shaving cream is also fun and easy (as seen on Play School). Using a plastic tablecloth, just spray some shaving cream on and let them use like finger paint. Another way to use the shaving cream is to spray into an oven tray (or similar tray), use drops of food colouring (use 1 colour to begin with). Then with a wooden spoon mix to achieve a marbling effect. Place paper onto shaving cream and gently press down, lift out and scrape off excess cream. You can keep doing this for a while, adding different colours one at a time.
Collages are another great indoor idea. All you need is some glue, magazines, ‘junk’ mail & scissors. Create a masterpiece with your child and put it on the fridge to show how proud you are.
All these ideas are great for spending quality time together with your children, and will have more meaning to your child than you would expect. These are especially handy coming into the cold winter months. So pull out your craft box, put on your creative ‘hat’ and make your child’s day.
